My name is Charlotte and I am in the 1st Loanhead Brownies.  I am working towards my Charities badge and have chosen to raise money for National Deaf Children's society because they have helped my beautiful fellow Brownie cousin and her family in so many ways. I will skip 1000 times each day for 10 days. I will use an app to evidence my skips.

Ellen was deaf at birth, the National Deaf Children's Society have helped her family to find the support needed to ensure that deafness does not become a barrier to what she wants to achieve in life.

So far, they have been helped by NDCS to be introduced to the deaf community, been directed toward sign language classes, encouraged to try new technology in hearing aids and other audio aids, and to meet other families like ours who have a deaf child or children at one their information days and meetings.  There are many simple things that affect deaf children differently to hearing children, and NDCS has helped Ellen's family to to navigate many of these.
