Rugby League Cares is dedicated to supporting the Rugby League family and its local communities. Our work focuses on four key areas Welfare, Benevolent Fund, Grants and Heritage. We nurture the past, present and future of the game.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 21st August I will be joining the UK Red Ride to Wembley challenge with my old team-mate Keith Senior, Paul Highton, Alex Simmons from Rugby AM, staff and sponsors of Rugby League Cares for a massively challenging fundraising event.

Rugby League Cares is a charity I'm keen to support. I witnessed at first hand the support they gave to the lads at Bradford Bulls when the club folded while I was there, and I also see the wider work they do in the game helping players successfully retire from the sport.

Playing Rugby League professionally is a great experience that only a very few of us get to enjoy. It takes commitment to get to that level in any sport and Rugby League is no exception. I enjoyed my career immensely: however it was a challenge to leave the sport and start on the next part of my life. Rugby League Cares provides the encouragement and support players need to make this journey easier.

Unfortunately Rugby League players don't earn the type of money that means we can retire and not work again: pretty much everyone will need to continue to work after their time in the sport. Having support available to make that a success is vital.

I also see the outstanding work that takes places through the RFL Benevolent Fund. Helping those with serious injuries and, sadly more recently supporting families who have lost a loved one playing the sport, is vital and really important.

That's why I'm asking my followers to support me and Rugby League Cares on the this challenge - a 320-mile off-road bike ride from Leeds to Wembley.  Anything you can donate will go a long way to supporting the good causes above.

All of the event has been sponsored so every penny you donate will go towards the charity!

Thank very much!
