Story
This is a charity 13 mile walk, on September 24th 2017 starting at 10am, from Woodford Lodge. This is the first event organised by Alan Sanderson around the beautiful countryside and lakes in the Chew Valley area. Alan previously completed a solo walk from Bristol to Exeter in 2015 in memory of his late wife Yvonne who died from Fallopian tube cancer in December 2014. 7000 people per year are diagnosed with ovarian cancers each year of which, 4000 people will die. Alan has been active in raising awareness of the disease and its symptoms in the Southwest area and working closely with the charity. Alan has recently moved to the Valley and has met other families in the area affected by this silent killer. We are hoping that the local community will join him in raising awareness of this disease, raise funds and remember those already lost to this disease.
The walk is suitable for all ages including children and the elderly, and if preferred, the route could be cycled.
If you would like to join the walk, we would ask for a £10 donation for adults and £5 for children under 12. We also would like as much help as possible to assist with raising additional funds with sponsorship from friends, families and work colleagues.
To register contact Alan at alandyvonne@hotmail.com stating name and age of participants. If you would like more information from Ovacome, please contact Lee Priestly on l.priestly@ovacome.org.uk.
