Story

Hi

Kayleigh and I are abseiling from the grand heights of Sunderland Royal Hospital.  Kayleigh is a expert at this as has done it before raising £££'s for the Alexandra Centre.  Me on the other hand (Claire), I am scared of heights!  So pop along on the day to see me clinging on for dear life to the side of a building, facing one of my biggest fears! Such fun!

We are raising money for therapy equipment for the Alexandra Centre.  The equipment is vital to the therapies we provide, to obtain the equipment we fundraise!

The Delirium and Dementia Outreach Team (DDOT) provide therapeutic activity sessions at the Alexandra Centre to inpatients at Sunderland Royal Hospital.  The Alexandra Centre is a multidisciplinary specialist centre to support patients who are at risk of cognitive difficulties (problems with memory and understanding) such as delirium and dementia.  These patients have complex needs requiring specialist input.  There is good evidence that therapeutic activity and good basic care improves outcomes.
