My son, Ethan was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on New Years Eve 2015 at the age of 14. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune diseased and basically, his Pancreas just doesn't work. This has not been caused by eating too much sweets or being unhealthy, quite the contrary in Ethan's case!! It's just pure bad luck and this condition is life changing. Ethan wears a pump which injects insulin into his body 24 hours a day. Without insulin, he will die. Keeping his blood glucose levels under control is imperative or he will suffer later on in life with kidney damage, loss of limbs and loss of eyesight among other things. Ethan pricks his finger with a needle at least 10 times a day to check his blood glucose levels. He has taken on this burden like a man (better!) and I am so proud of him.

I started running a year ago to get fit and healthy and have managed to run a few 10k races and even a half marathon in that year. I'm now going for the big one and I am so pleased to have been asked to join the JDRF team and help them raise money to help cure and treat Type 1 Diabetes in Children.

I have been set a target of £2000 - please help me raise this so that I can achieve my goal and make Ethan as proud of me as I am of him.
