Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As many of you will know, when Olly was born it wasn't the welcome into the world we expected. Less than 24 hours after birth, we found ourselves in an ambulance speeding to Kings College Hospital. It was a very scary and stressful time, not knowing if Olly would pull through. We were told that babies in intensive care do better when their parents are nearby, so it was really important to spend as much time with him as possible. Even though he was inside the incubator, motionless and unreactive, he was able to hear and possibly smell us; we couldn't and wouldn't tear ourselves away.
Ronald McDonald House in Camberwell gave us a room just opposite the hospital so that we could stay close to Olly and spend all day with him. They had kitchens and washing facilities so it was a real home from home, providing stability and routine when you feel like everything is falling apart. They even had donated Pret a Manger meals so we could look after ourselves and eat properly without having to worry about shopping and finding our way around.
Ronald McDonald House were there for us when we needed them, so we would like to give back by raising some money as a token of our appreciation. There were many families staying in the house, some with babies in intensive care like us, others with older children and some with long term health problems. Ronald McDonald House keeps families together, helping them through the hardest of times.
We cannot thank them enough.
Lots of love,
Chris, Claire & Olly xxx
