Story
Right now, we are really concerned that care workers need all the support they can get to continue to provide care for so many people, whether in care homes, residential unit or home settings.
There are 1.5 million care workers in the UK, contributing to one of the largest workforces, and caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society. For the UK's care workers, early starts, long hours and mentally draining work are part and parcel of the job. As a result, it's all too easy for illness, or other unforeseen circumstances, to push them beyond their financial limits.
We are intending to cross train in alternate 1 hour stints to complete 24 hours, starting on this special 75th VE Day (running over 2 days)! We particularly want to raise money to support care worker getting much-needed PPE and other support, financial, emotional, etc, to help them cope with the current situation.
To keep us going, we would like you to tell us a favourite song we can play on You Tube - something to keep our legs working. We've worked out this is about 480 songs, so a fiver per song would see us exceeding our target total! Just tell us the song you want us to play in the comments box with any donation.
We have trained for it & we intend to manage our challenge without either of us needing to call on the NHS! This is one way we can help during lockdown.
Thank you X
