Maggie’s Centres are warm and welcoming places built alongside NHS hospitals that provide the support that people with cancer and their family and friends need. www.maggiescentres.org

Story

Cancer has unfortunately affected our family more times than I care to mention and yet I never imagined that my amazing, healthy, young Mum would be sat telling me that she had the dreaded c word.

In November 2016 that was the position that we found ourselves in.

Thankfully my wonderful Mum has finished treatment and it has been successful but as anyone who has been affected by cancer will know, there is no real end, just what next. Mum is back getting fighting fit and we have a really positive year ahead.

Maggie's have played a huge role in getting Mum back to where she is now through their constant support and professional but friendly advice. A drop-in centre meant for anyone affected by cancer, be that the patient themselves or their family, friends and loved ones, Maggie's provides a warm and welcoming place where you can do all sorts, be that getting a cup of tea; speaking to other cancer sufferers; or indeed getting that ever-needed professional advice on cancer itself and the many ways it can affect your life, physically, emotionally or financially.

For Mum it provided her with a place to go and meet other people going through the same as her, a vital opportunity for those with even the most supportive of families. Maggie's also offer courses of holistic therapies to patients, as well as courses on how to cope once it's all over.

Cancer is unbiased in who it affects and the sad reality is that most people I know have been in a similar situation to what we went through last year. Maggie's can't cure cancer but they can offer a place of hope and support to thousands of people across the UK who need it. It is a vital support system for so many and hopefully they can continue to provide that help for a lot longer with some extra money!

Any donations would be hugely appreciated, even just £1!! And if all of the above reasons aren't quite good enough then perhaps the promise of footage of me throwing myself out if a plane is enough to tempt you!!

Thanks in advance,

Danni
