Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I want to raise money for Alzheimer's research because my dear mother has dementia. It is too late to help her with this terrible disease, however, in the future, I hope that research will possibly eradicate or slow down the process for others. 

For my main fundraising I intend to cycle the Iberian peninsula: South to North. I have a Dawes touring bike and intend to ride some of the Camino de Santiago, where the roads can be a bit rough. I have estimated the ride to be 900 miles, without deviations. However, there are always some! My intention is to average 60 miles a day, which will take 15 days. I'm really looking forward  to  the ride which celebrates my 65th birthday but also, hopefully, will benefit others in the future too.

This will be an individual ride without back-up. It's a bit scary as I do not speak Portuguese/Spanish and the maps I have acquired so far are only road maps (they don't show the mountains I need to climb over).
