Our Daisy was born 3 months early and was so poorly we almost lost her. She was diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy when she was 1 year old. Her mummy and daddy were told she would have learning difficulties, would not be able to care for herself and probably would not be able to walk or talk. Daisy’s sheer determination and spirit has got her through and she has gone from strength to strength; appearing on TV, in newspapers and magazines and even a book. Daisy’s personality and strength was recognised earlier this year when she was awarded a Local Hero Award for Young Person of the Year.
On 1 April 2018 Daisy was admitted to the QE Hospital where she was found to have a mass in her tummy. She was transferred to Addenbrookes and she has been backwards and forwards ever since. Daisy has undergone lots of tests and is going back to Addenbrookes on Monday 30 April for a lengthy operation to try and remove the tumour. Further treatment will be decided after the operation. Daisy, after all of this, is still smiling and is enjoying winding up both the doctors and nurses at Addenbrookes. She is fully aware of how poorly she is and is looking forward to getting ‘fixed’. Daisy will still be in hospital on the day of the run but will be FaceTiming us the whole way round so she doesn’t miss out!
Daisy is trialling a David Hart Walker which costs around £3000 and we are fundraising to help her to buy one. I Please help us! As we have smashed this - we are carrying on to send her on a well deserved holiday after she has finished her treatment #doingitfordaisy #daisy1tumour0
