Dominic's Basingstoke Canal Walk - 32 Miles for BHWT

Basingstoke Canal 32 Miles for BHWT · 21 August 2021
Our Basingstoke Canal walk is actually 32 miles long, but my mum and I are also doing 2 x training session - 1 was in June (18 miles) and 1 in July, (15 miles) and the final BIG walk of 32 miles starts on August 21st for 2 days. After our first training session, - our feet were covered with blisters we were exhausted and could hardly walk - but we kept going as we knew it was for a good cause.
The reason why I'm doing all of this walking, is because I am an avid supporter of 'captive conservation' i.e. giving great homes to animals and I love chickens! BHWT does a great job helping people adopt hens that were once part of the commercial egg industry. They give hens a chance to have a better life - pecking around outside, relaxing in the sun and enjoying their retirement. The hens deserve it after all of their hard work!
The BHWT also helps raise awareness of what a good commercial egg industry should look like - one that makes the welfare of hens as a priority and one that delivers us with healthier eggs to eat. They need funding to do this.
We aim to raise £200 at least for the BHWT and "the girls". The blisters will be worth it and we would love if you could donate!
