Story
Betsy has decided she wants to fund raise by doing a water carry.
Betsy decided she wanted to do this during a conversation we had when she was in the shower, I told her to hurry up and stop wasting water. Betsy asked about the Water Aid adverts on the TV and was quiet concerned about young girls carrying water over long distances and was concerned that these children didn’t get to go to school.
We looked into this and Water Aid told us that girls started carrying water from the age of two.
Betsy decided to do a water walk in the hope that she could raise some money and perhaps help girls her age in other countries get and education and also get clean water.
Betsy’s water walk will start at Narberth Foos Festival on Sunday 23rd September at 11 o’clock.
We will walk a route around Narberth covering 4 miles , ending at the Food Festival, hopefully around 2pm.
Please help Betsy, who is only 9 years old, raise some money!
You can give here on her just giving page, or sponsor her at the food festival, meet her on her walk and put some pennies in a bucket or give in any way you want to!
Clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene should be a normal part of everyone’s daily life. Without all three, people can’t live dignified, healthy lives. With all three, they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good. With clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, children are born healthier. They get the chance to go to school and grow up to become adults. Women and men get to earn a living. Whole communities start to thrive. It sounds normal and it should be.
