Three Peaks Challenge · 16 July 2016

The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

No one should face Cancer alone.

This is why Macmillan are so important because they have helped and continue to help our loved ones to face their greatest battle. Cancer will effect more than 1 in 3 of us, and this organisation provides invaluable support, both practical and emotional, to people when they most need it. This sort of support needs to be funded and Droitwich Tennis Club would like to make a contribution.

Given the nature of Macmillan's work it seems fitting that we should aim to raise some money by taking on a significant challenge and so, on 16th July, we will take on the 3 Peaks Challenge. The 12 strong team from Droitwich includes our coaches; Lee Cowan and Matt Baker as well as members and friends of the club; Joe Maidment, Ian Bowman, Oli Shiers, Dave Lamb, Steve Whittaker, Neil Cowan, Matt Holmes, Jordan Ness, Dean Swingler and Steve Colley. Neil Bates and Linda Price will be providing the logistical support on the day.

The 3 Peaks Challenge

The challenge is to take on Ben Nevis (1345m), Scafell Pike (978 m) and finally Snowdon (1085 m) and aim to complete all 3 in a 24 hour period.  We'll start the attempt at 5pm on Saturday 16th July, starting with Ben Nevis. Then at 4am we set foot on Scafell Pike and finally, if all goes well we aim to reach Snowdon just after midday Sunday. In total it's a challenge involving over 13 hours of walking, a total of 22 miles, and 11 hours of driving. It is a formidable challenge but one that we are proud to take on, and every pound we can raise will make the challenge a little easier.

Thanks for your support
