Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those of you who don't know I managed to secure a ballot place in the 2018 London Marathon, which to be honest was a bit of a shock! It's the first time I've applied and everyone tells you it's very unlikely you'll get in so I wasn't really expecting to! Then, as the ballot announcement date got closer and the reality of what I could be letting myself in for started to sink in I was really hoping I wouldn't get a spot! But here we are, I have a place on the start line and I want to make it count 😊
By getting a ballot place I dont have to fundraise but it seemed like a real waste not to do so. So many national charities are fighting to get you to raise funds for them and although they are all good causes I really wanted to choose a charity that doesn't get the exposure that these big names do and also one that means something to me personally.
I have been a supporter of Yeldall Manor for a good 20+ years now and seen how it has changed so many people's lives. I have friends that have been through the programme and who's lives have been transformed by it and also friends who work there in various different roles. But.......
Funding for drug and alcohol rehabilitation is getting ever-harder to access.
That is why Yeldalls Good Samaritan Bursary Fund is becoming increasingly important for those who cannot obtain statutory funding and cannot afford to pay their fees privately. The Bursary Fund is financed entirely from donations and really can be a lifeline to many who ask Yeldall for help.
Because of the Bursary Fund, Yeldall have been able to offer places to many men who would not otherwise have had the opportunity. Yeldall never want to turn down a suitable resident through lack of funds and, last financial year, they have accepted more residents than ever without other funding.
By sponsoring me for my epic run! you will be supporting this fund, and enabling more men to access Yeldall's programmes and have the chance of a new life.
No donation is too small! Every penny counts and will be gratefully received by me and Yeldall Manor.
