Fundraising for Emmaus
Story
On Thursday 5th December staff from Hinckley & Rugby Building Society will be participating in a 'Big Sleep Out' to raise money for local homelessness charity Emmaus - Leicestershire & Rutland!
The sleep out is taking place during the week when the World’s Big Sleep Out is held in several countries, with an expected 50,000 taking part to raise awareness and funding for homelessness charities.
16 members of Society staff, and some special guests from the local branch of Emmaus, will be digging out their sleeping bags and setting up for a chilly night under the stars in our car park.
Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland is a charity offering active support and companionship to formerly homeless people and those at risk of homelessness. They offer long term solutions to their companions as they provide a home as well as meaningful work in their social enterprises! Each person has their own room and bathroom at Elm Lea House in Hinckley. People can stay as long as they wish and are offered opportunities to acquire skills as well as support when ready to move on.

This autumn Hinckley & Rugby launched a new Charity Assist Mortgage, which homebuyers can choose knowing they will be helping homeless people move into a home and full-time work. The Building Society donates £250 to Emmaus for every Charity Assist Mortgage.
