Fundraising for MASKS
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
During the summer holidays we have decided that a restful holiday abroad is such a cliche and we have taken on the challenge to climb 3 mountains! Yes 3 because as a team we could not decide which mountain was the best and are all very stubborn Tee Hee. So on 10th August 2017 in a team of 8 made up of family and friends, we are climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon all within 24 hours.
Lots of training has been going on over the last few months which include long walks, gym workouts, fitness classes, running around London in lunch breaks and completing couch to 5K, our tans are looking good the equipment has been brought and we are ready to go.
So we are hear you ask us why on earth have you decided to do this? Our son/nephew Josh attends Booker Park School and MASKS(Make a Special Kid Smile) is a small dedicated charity for the special needs school and also Stocklake Park School for kids aged between 3-19 who are disadvantaged due to a range of complex needs.
Josh has Autism and since joining the school in 2015 he has come on leaps and bounds, and from being non verbal at the start of his time at Booker Park he is now joining words together and less frustrated as he can now express himself by using a number of resources that the school have given him to cope. Josh has also relaxed and is starting to integrate more with his peers and this is thanks to the amazing staff that work very hard with him.
The school does this for all the other kids that attend and this a way we can help in our own little way as it takes 3 times the amount to educate a special needs child.Please donate what you can and this will help to buy equipment and resources for the schools.
