The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.

Story

Buckie man’s marathon effort in memory of his dad

A Buckie man will fulfil a lifelong ambition when he takes on the London Marathon in October.

Gary, who works with Baxter’s Food Group in Fochabers, said: “Completing the London Marathon has been a lifetime goal of mine and this wonderful charity is giving me the opportunity to run for them.

“I want to help them continue their work for years to come, to assist people to become more independent and help with the daily struggles we can all take for granted.

“I have already completed the Edinburgh Marathon this year. Although it was challenging at times, the cheering crowd helped me push through and the atmosphere was electric.
