10 years ago my family and I sadly lost my mum to this awful disease after a short but brave battle. After lots of different tests over about 2/3 months Deborah ,my mum, was diagnosed with motor neuron disease at the age of 50 on the 9th march 2007. Unfortunately mums life expectancy changed dramatically over the next few months. After the diagnosis we were told my mum could live for at least 5 - 10 years ,comfortably with the right treatment. Sadly this wasnt to be, we lost her on the 21st November 2007, 9 months after being diagnosed. For myself , my Dad Len, my sister Natalie and my mums grandchildren , our lives have never been the same without her. Not a single day goes by where i dont think about her and wish she was here to watch her family bloom and grow.

So this is why i am asking for your help ,any amount big or small will help towards looking for a breakthrough looking for a possible cure or more advanced treatment , so that more families dont suffer the same heart break.

So to commemorate my mums 10 th anniversary i wanted to do something special, something different, so i decided to run my first ever marathon and raise money for the motor neuron disease association at the same time.

All monies raised will go the south lancs branch of the motor neurone disease association. The local branch that helped my mum and my family through this horrific time. This area covers St helens, Warrington, Wigan , basically in between Manchester and Liverpool.
