Story
As a tenpin bowling centre, we are proud to welcome bowlers of all ages, including may elderly league members who visit us regularly each week. Several of our customers have known heart conditions, and while we hope an emergency never occurs, having a defibrillator on site could make a life-saving difference if it does.
We are therefore raising funds to purchase and install a defibrillator and the centre, helping to provide a safer environment who bowls, works and visits here. We would be incredibly grateful for any contribution, no matter how small. Even a donation of £1 or £2 will help us move closer to our goal and could one day help save a life.
Thank you for your support and generosity.
Why a Defibrillator is So Important
Every year in the UK, more than 30,000 people suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Sadly, fewer than 1 in 10 survive.
When a cardiac arrest occurs, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by around 10%. Early intervention, including CPR and the use of a defibrillator, can dramatically increase survival rates.
Despite this, public access defibrillators are used in only a small percentage of cases, highlighting the need for more devices to be available within our communities.
How a Defibrillator Will Help the Community
Once installed, the defibrillator will be registered with the local ambulance service and available for public use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The device does not replace emergency medical care. Instead, it provides immediate support while an ambulance is on its way. The sooner a defibrillator can be used, the greater the chance of survival.
By installing a publicly accessible defibrillator at Go Bowling, we can help provide reassurance and potentially lifesaving support to customers, staff, visitors and the wider local community.
