I will run in my first Half Marathon on 8/10/17 to raise funds for R Charity £10 M(illion) Appeal for the Comfort and Spiritual Care of Patients and their Families in the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital due to open in 2018.

You might be asking why? …… why am I passionate in choosing to take on this challenge and to support the R Charity?
I have recently returned back to work following a period of long-term sickness absence and I saw the opportunity to run in the London 4 Royal Parks Half Marathon for the R Charity on InTouch. Whilst I was off ill with Stress at Work, I started running and greatly benefitted from the daily rhythm and sense of freedom and spiritual well-being which I gained. I am a Christian so, for me, this running time became a special time to pray and draw closer to God.

Now I am excited to put my 13 months of preparation to good use! ……to raise funds for this R Charity Appeal especially as it seeks to improve the experience and well-being of patients and their families in the new Royal. Whether a patient is in hospital with a physical or mental illness, it is also equally important to care for their spiritual well-being and for their families to benefit too from access to the Spiritual Care Centre and Therapeutic Garden.

A Half Marathon is 13.1 miles long so I will be well motivated to run round the beautiful Royal Parks route; 1 mile for every month I was absent! My co-runners, also supporting the R Charity Appeal and me! …… will be my daughter, Melissa, and family friend, Kate.
Together, we will …… be the 3 runners participating as the R Charity Team in London
