Year of Challenges for The Christie · 22 April 2018

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As I'm sure you're aware my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2009 and last year reached a mile stone we never thought he would reach - the big 60! This was not just down to my dads determination and positive mind but from the support and work the Christie do on a daily basis! This wouldn't be possible with donations.

This year I'm taking part in as many events as possible.

Challenge 1:

The first event took place in February  - WOW what a great event to be part of MAD DOG 2017! (can't wait to sign up for 2018!)

Challenge 2:

Well we did it the 5k run festival on the 19th march with Chloe - this was her first ever race and she did it in 32 minutes! I've signed her up for 2 more...

Challenge 3:

A little walk up snowdonia was challenge number 3. That was a little bit windy!!💨💨💨

Challenge 4:

Three peaks challenge on the 20th May - 3 peaks, 12 hours, 26.2 miles! - I did it 10hrs 48mins - wow that's all can say. But yes I'm going to do it again next year anyone want to join us??

Challenge 5:

Next is Chloe's 2nd 5k  in Warrington on the 10th June!

Challenge 6:

We've then get the colorrun in Manchester on the 1st July.

Challenge 7:

Then I decided 3 weeks ago to sign up for the wigan bike ride 50 miles - yes I'm crazy but all for a great cause!

Challenge 8:

So as a birthday treat I thought why not let's do another challenge - colourrush 5k at aintree on the 15th July with chloe x

Challenge 9: oh and 2 days before we decided to do Chloe's first 10k. What a star, she had never ran further that 5k, and she doubled it with no training whatsoever and did it in 79 minutes!

Challenge 10: we thought we would try another mountain and climb old man  Coniston - tough challenge but a great weekend!

Challenge 11: my first 1/2 marathon ....Lancaster half - feeling a little nervous - well I completed it - 2hrs 15 minutes tough but enjoyed it at the end of when i saw the finish line!

Challenge 12: back to where my running bug began - wigan 10k in 2 weeks - 3rd september let's hope I can recover in time.

Challenge 13 - wigan family mile run with chloe and Isabelle! Isabelle's very first run.

Challenge 14 - this was a very last minute addition as a friend couldn't do this, so i took up the challenge of my first 10 mile run, the Kirby 10 miler at Knowsley Safari park - 1 week before Palma!

Challenge 15: - it's time for some sun, a sunny trip to Palma to take part in the Palma 10k! This was incredible and can't wait for 2018!

Challenge 16 - Festive Flash Five - time to get festive period underway whilst raising funds for the Christie.

Challenge 17 - wigan family mile with Chloe and Isabelle xx

Challenge 18 - Liverpool 1/2 marathon - my 2nd half and a managed a PB knocking 23 minutes of my previous half!

Challenge 19 - St. Helens 10k - this was my last run before London marathon and had a great time and celebrated my running clubs 4th birthday party

I supposed to do the wigan half marathon in March, however due to the snow this was push back and I’ll be doing this the week after London Marathon! I might be crawling round 😂

Challenge 20 - Well I only went and completed the London Marathon, can’t beleive it. It was be hottest on record at 24 degrees in 4hrs 54 minutes. Absolutely loved the experience and can’t wait to do it again!
