We are Versus Arthritis to defy the pain & isolation of arthritis

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

10 years ago my lovely wife Elaine started suffering from Psoriatic Arthritis. It started almost overnight , and whilst she is very stoic and complains little , I know it makes even the most every day tasks ( getting dressed ) very painful , and on bad days almost impossible.

The treatment at BRI is fantastic and the staff are wonderful, but the treatment itself has some nasty side effects .

Research is expensive , but continues to look for more effective treatment with fewer side effects .Some of the most modern drugs that Elaine uses come from research funded by Arthritis Research UK.

I ran the first GNR when I was 21, and did a few half marathons in the following 2 or 3 years . Then I settled to a life of idleness! On New Years Day this year, I thought let's give it another go , but was worried when my entry was successful ! I set a target time when I entered but I'm not letting on , my training tells me it was way too ambitious. I'll be somewhere behind Mo Farah ( just !)

Just need to complete the training now , everything else is in place , including a support team ,kindly led-by Mr & Mrs Neil Brinsdon, who have promised an ice bath at the end ( well there's a motivation??)

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

As they say every little helps.
