Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have always been one to take on a challenge, but the London Marathon has to be the biggest for me. Anyone who knows me will know that I am not a runner, or even a jogger, and so taking part in the 2019 London Marathon is a fairly big deal. Running the marathon on behalf of Parkinson’s UK is an even bigger deal.
In 2017, my husband, Simon (who is also running the marathon with me) was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 40. The diagnosis hit us both hard, and we are still adjusting, and we will continue to adjust as the disease progresses. We are truly hoping that one day they will find a cure for this disease.
Simon and I are hoping to raise £2000.00 each. These are much needed funds which will help others suffering this terrible disease.
£75 enables a Parkinson’s nurse-led clinic in the community to run for half a day
£500 would fund a Parkinson’s nurse for 25 hours
£1000 funds cutting edge research for a week
£2500 would mean that they could provide a nursing service for those without local support for 2 weeks
We have started our training and will keep everyone posted on our progress. The 2019 London Marathon takes place on Sunday 28th April
