Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’ve worked in the field of autism for nearly 25yrs. I’m now the Autism Outreach Service manager for Leicestershire. And I’m also an uncle to Angus who has an autism spectrum diagnosis.

LET’S RAISE SOME FUNDS TO HELP FAMILIES.

I’m specifically targeting funding to pay for social mentors for teenagers and more support for parents.

I’ve worked all over the world from Australia to Yellowknife, Canada, from Tanzania to Ireland - all families and individuals have similar issues - firstly they are seeking a better understanding, secondly they are seeking compassion and the offer of hope ‘just give us a chance’ - soooo many young people with ASD are employable with their skills & knowledge but are NOT employed because getting over the threshold and being supported is soooo hard.

I’m passionate about helping to support families and young people, I work in the field but realise the local authorities can’t do it all. My nephew, Angus, is a wonderful wonderful young man, a complete credit to his family & himself & how hard he strives to be understood in this chaotic & unpredictable world.

Thanks so much for your help - I’ll carry all of your comments with me on the way, my first marathon!!!
