Story

I have set up this page in memory of my Mum who passed away on 29th September 2016 after a 16 month battle with brain cancer. My Mum meant so much to us and was an incredibly special person to many. My family and some of our amazing friends aim to raise £15,000 over the next year through various events, the first being a Coast to Coast Bike Ride.

Funds will go towards raising awareness and aiding in the quest to find a cure for brain cancer. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and people under 40 in the UK and survival rates have not improved significantly over the last 40 years. We need to change that.

Research into this type of cancer is massively underfunded. Over £500 million a year is spent on cancer research in the UK, yet less than 2% of this goes towards brain tumours.

The Brain Tumour Charity does amazing work; both funding ground breaking research, raising awareness about brain tumours and supporting the families of those affected by a brain tumour. They rely 100% on voluntary donations.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page :) You can read more about our story at https://www.thebraintumourcharity.org/get-involved/supporter-groups/groups/the-kim-smith-fund/
