Story

On the week beginning 15th July we would love for you to join us for a fundraiser! As a team we will put ticking off the miles from Heathrow to Orlando (all 4336 of them) to raise money for Dreamflight.

How is it going to work?

- Come in on the day and chuck some money in the bucket and cycle/ row/ run your way to victory
- Ask your family and friends to sponsor you to travel the distance that you pledge
- Attend a class which will give 10 miles
Enjoy ice cream kindly donated by ‘Our Cow Molly’ to celebrate

More about the charity

Dreamflight is a UK charity that changes young lives through taking children with a serious illness or disability, without their parents, on the holiday of a lifetime to Orlando, Florida.

Dreamflight believes that fun and joy are just as important as medical research and equipment - especially for children who perhaps can't wait long enough for the breakthrough they need or whose illnesses and treatments have brought pain, distress and disruption to their lives.

£25 pays for one child to have ice cream for the trip.

“I have set the Dreamflight challenge for you all, not only to show you how super fit you are now that you have regularly been attending PT sessions, boot camp and classes, but also to raise money for a fantastic charity. Dreamflight is close to my heart as my day job is working with children from neonates to teens who spend a considerable amount of time in hospital. As a Physiotherapist at Sheffield Children’s hospital I have seen first-hand the impact of long term disability, pain and serious illness on these children’s quality of life and the disruption to their life. I want to raise money to give these very important and highly deserving children the holiday of a lifetime.

The holiday to Orlando is obviously great fun but the amazing thing about the trip is what these children go on to do after. Due to these children’s conditions they are generally cocooned by their doctors and parents and the trip gives them new found independence and confidence. Many children go on to take up a sport and previous ‘very important children’ have even represented their country and gone on to volunteer at future trips to share their experiences and encourage others.

I hope that you will join me, Kate and the team to pledge some miles during our Dreamflight week, whether that’s 5 or 50, and feel proud of what we can do as a community. See you there!”
