There are so many stories I can share but for now please read from TCT:
For every young person we reach, there’s another we can’t. Almost half of young people with cancer are not treated in our units, which could mean they’re treated either with young children or much older adults in hospitals where there isn’t the same level of expertise that we provide. They might also never meet another young person with cancer. This is a scary and lonely experience.
So the trust is expanding their work to reach every young person with cancer, no matter where they receive their treatment. We’re starting to build much wider links across the NHS, so we can be there for young people in main cancer hospitals, local designated hospitals, or even in their homes. We need supporters to reach our goal of helping every young person with cancer.
The E39 Teenage Cancer Trust Unit at Nottingham Childrens Hospital, QMC is for 13-18 year olds and has 5 in-patient beds. All bedrooms are equipped with soft furnishings, bespoke furniture, TV, DVD and gaming facilities, and there is dedicated Teenage Cancer Trust Wifi with laptops provided.
