Story

Derek Allan and Shaun Watts will be attempting to walk around Ladyburn lake at Druridge Bay Country Parks for a solid 24 hours on Wednesday the 21st June, the "longest day" (Summer Solstice)

Derek and his daughter Ellie do lots of walking together and raise money for many various different charities.  Whenever they did their training in their local area they kept seeing another walker no matter what the weather... On their last charity walk "lapsaroundladyburn"  people were encoraged to come and join them,( the walker) Shaun turned up to help and actually did whole thing!

There was a lot of time to talk, and catch up as it turned out that they were at school together. During this time they discovered that they were very similar. Shaun has very recently completed the West Highland Way for Macmillan Cancer with his partner Cheryl and friend Martyn Beverley.
They realised that they were both experienced, determined walkers who want to help good causes. They decided to both do another walk together.

A 24 hour long walk is their plan and summer solstice is the chosen time to do it as it will have the most day light hours. It will be laps in a clockwise direction around ladyburn lake at Druridge Bay Counrty Parks on the Northumerland coast.

The worthy cause for this walk is going to be Alzheimer's Society.

You are able to donate here on this page or feel free to donate on the day as they will have a donation bucket with them. You can even join them for a lap or two at any point in the 24 hours.

4pm on Wednesday 21st June - 4pm on Thursday 22nd June

Once again we are making "Footprints for others"
