Story
This October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I’ll be walking 100 Miles to raise money for Breast Cancer Now – the UK’s leading breast cancer charity.
During those 31 days, breast cancer will take almost 1,000 lives in the UK. They are mums and daughters, friends and colleagues. Someone loved. Someone lost.
Breast Cancer Now has a bold vision - that by 2050, everyone affected by breast cancer will live and live well. And every pound raised this October will help fund their life-saving science and life-changing support, so they can make their vision a reality.
A little info for those of you that don’t know me .
I’m Lucie . At the age of 45 I was diagnosed with Grade 2 Invasive Ductal and Lobular Breast Cancer in July 2025. Ive had surgery lost my left breast and had a full node clearance. Started my chemotherapy journey in January 2026 and completed that in July 2026 . I was fortunate to ring the bell but my treatment doesn’t end there . In August 2026 I started my hormone therapy, my breast cancer was hormone driven so I’m now being medically induced into menopause. Zoladex and letrozole for 7 years, both these will lower the levels of estrogen in my body and shut my ovaries off too . Zolodronic Acid infusions once every 6 months for 3 years to help protect my bones along with a targeted therapy I’ll be put on called Ribociclib this will be for 3 years also . Somewhere in amongst all that I’m still due a reconstruction surgery . I share my story in hope that I can raise awareness and encourage people to check themselves regularly. Early detection is key .
Will you support me in going the distance for Breast Cancer Now? 🎀
