In March 2022 I contacted the winner of my Mother's Day competition, a mama-to-be called Louise. I got an excited email back from Louise telling me she was due her baby in June and that she had been following me on social media for some time.

Back in 2021, Louise and her family had hoped to book in for a newborn session with me, but at 32 weeks pregnant, their daughter Olivia was born sleeping.

Oliver was born safely in June, and at his newborn photo session we incorporated Olivia by using her castings, her portrait and her teddy bear. It was a session full of raw emotion.

At the photo session, Louise and her family told me about the bereavement suite they had stayed in with Olivia at Medway Maritime Hospital - Abigail's Place facilitated by the charity Abigail's Footsteps. This suite meant they could spend time as a family with Olivia. Louise told me "they’re such an amazing charity and really helped us through the most difficult time." What an incredible and important service to be available to families experiencing baby loss.
