Like many others, our family have lost loved ones to cancer. Most recently, my father-in-law, Pat, passed away in August 2017 and we feel this loss even deeper as we all lived together. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend to those fortunate enough to have known him. 

Maggie's Cancer Care Centre, within the grounds of the Freeman Hospital Newcastle, offer free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. We are very fortunate to have this resource in the North East but they need fundraising to keep their amazing work going. That's when I decided to do the Britain V Cancer Cambodia Trek in November 2018 in the memory of Pat. I know he'd think I was crazy but I also know he'd be proud of me. I'll be visiting temples, traditional villages, camping in a jungle monastery and visiting a local school. Along with the awesome Laura Parker, we successfully trekked the entire Hadrian's Wall trail and ended it at home, a total of 90 miles!! Thanks to everyone's incredible generosity, I achieved my original target of £3000 so my new target is £5000! There's lots more exciting events coming up, so watch out on social media!!!
