Story

Maesbrith, Dolgellau Defibrillator Fundraising Campaign

Maesbrith, Dolgellau is partnering with AEDdonate to raise funds for one external defibrillator to replace the existing defibrillator that is now obsolete. This life-saving device will be accessible to anyone in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

Why a Defibrillator at Maesbrith, Dolgellau So Important

Every year in the UK, around 115,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests are reported to ambulance services. Of these, ambulance services attempt resuscitation in around 43,000 people.

Sadly, fewer than 1 in 10 people who receive resuscitation following an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survive. Every second counts, and early CPR and prompt access to a defibrillator can make a life-saving difference.

In England, a bystander uses a public-access defibrillator in only around 9% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.

How a Defibrillator Will Help the community

Once installed, the defibrillator will be registered with the local ambulance trust and available for the public to use 24/7.

This doesn’t replace emergency services. Instead, it provides immediate, potentially life-saving intervention while the ambulance is enroute. The quicker the shock is delivered, the greater the chance of survival.
