Early Birds Sponsored Walk · 18 September 2016 ·
There has and continues to be immense strides made in the field of cancer research but, the reality is, that it still unfortunately means the end of the road for several utterly wonderful human beings. Hopefully this will not always be the case.
Dad was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in Feb 2015. He fought the disease for as long as was humanly possible with astounding
determination and grace. He was admitted into hospice care in March 2016 and passed away in April 2016.
My mother describes the hospice staff in Lincoln as angels and we felt that it was only right to try to raise funds towards the substantial running costs of the network. The trust relies on donations from the public to keep operating and it is difficult to put in to words the difference that their medical and interpersonal skills make at such a critical time. They made Dad comfortable and they made him smile. We couldn’t have asked for more.
Dad liked to rib me continuously for trying to avoid any form of physical activity so a walk seems quite fitting. Myself and a small but perfectly formed group of family and friends will be striding across Lincolnshire on Sep 18th for this great cause. Any donations greatly received. Thank you.
