Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 28th April I will be attempting a Guinness World Record by trying to run the London Marathon dressed in full highland dress in under 3 hours 20 minutes.

Record definition

  • This record is for the fastest time to run over a marathon distance course whilst wearing full Highland dress.
  • Marathon distance is 42.195 km / 26 miles 385 yards.
  • This is to be attempted by an individual male.
  • The record is measured by time – in hours, minutes and seconds to the nearest 100th of a second.
  • For the purpose of this record, Highland dress is the traditional formal dress of Scotland.

Rules for Fastest marathon in highland dress (male)

  1. If the competitor would like to wear a different style of jacket, he can send a photo and details for pre-approval consideration, provided it is a comparable style and carries traditional significance.
  2. The jacket must be fully buttoned throughout the attempt, Black or tartan waistcoat must also be worn underneath.
  3. Any additional accessories, e.g. Sgian dubh, are at the discretion of the participant and will not affect the record
  4. All tartan items worn must be of matching tartan
  5. If the claimant is running for a particular charity, details should be included, although this does not affect the attempt itself.
