Story

Why I’m running 💛

I’m running this half marathon for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland after my family went through a really tough year.

Last year, my dad had a massive cardiac arrest while we were on holiday in Florida followed by weeks in ICU and heart surgery. It was an incredibly scary time. Thankfully, he’s doing well now and we’re incredibly grateful for that. Around the same time, we also lost my uncle Frank to a stroke.

Going through both of those experiences so close together really changed my perspective. After everything that happened in Florida, we have used Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland for support since being back home. Having that support here in Scotland made such a difference, and it showed me how important it is that this help is available when families need it.

Running a half marathon is a big challenge for me. This isn’t something that comes easily and it’s taken real commitment to even get started. Some days are hard, but every run has a purpose behind it.

I’m running for my dad.

I’m running in memory of my uncle Frank.

And I’m running to support a charity that helps people through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean so much. Thank you for supporting me and Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
