We support Birmingham Children's Hospital to improve the lives of sick children

Story

Our son, Charlie was born in April 2020. He was diagnosed prenatally with a complex congenital heart defect known as Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA) and we were told that without surgical intervention he would not survive.

Charlie was born at Birmingham Women’s Hospital and within hours was blue lighted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for his first heart procedure. Four days later he underwent open heart surgery to fix his little heart.

Throughout our stay at Birmingham Children’s Hospital we were blown away by the care, support and attention Charlie received. While Charlie was in intensive care he had 1:1 care, and whilst he was on the Ward he would receive cuddles from the nurses on duty. It was heart warming and so reassuring, particularly during an extremely vulnerable time.

Birmingham Children’s Hospital saved our little Charlie’s life and I have vowed to raise as much money as possible to help them keep doing what they do best, and that's caring for sick kids.

You never expect to be in this difficult situation and without Birmingham Children's Hospital I don't know what would have happened.

I’ve been lucky enough to have been selected to run the LONDON MARATHON on behalf Birmingham Children’s Hospital. And what better way to start my life long mission to raise them money than to run the BIGGEST MARATHON in the WORLD.

Please dig deep and donate as much as you can to such an incredible charity that saves the lives of so many children.

At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, we believe there’s always more we can do for our sick kids and that’s why we will always strive to do more for our patients and families. It’s our mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use our hospital.Your support empowers us to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK. Your fundraising enables us to make our hospital feel just like home. Your donations are helping us to find new ways to treat and cure childhood diseases.

About the charity

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.
