Story
My name is Micky and very soon I will be putting my life on hold for 50 hours to help Caudwell Children generate more understanding of autism.
From Noon on Wednesday 10th to 2pm on Friday 12th August, I will be living inside a glass box in the foyer of the Tesco store in Hemsworth, where I work as the Security Manager.
I will east, sleep, work and play inside the box, in full view of the public. Mobile phones and gadgets are banned from the box, so I will be relying on YOUR support to get me through!
Many parents of autistic children have told the charity that the glass box is a metaphor for the condition. Being stared at from all directions and experiencing difficulty with communicating while feeling isolated is how some autistic children feel.
All money raised will stay local to the area and be used to support autistic children and their families in Hemsworth, through the Caudwell Children ACT Programme.
As it's the school holidays I am hoping a lot of people will pop in to say hello. We will have different things going on to in store, and staff and volunteers from Caudwell Children will be on hand throughout the 50 hours to answer questions relating to autism and explain how they support children with the condition.
You can donate in store, here on just giving or via your mobile phone. Text: LIFA89 £amount to 70070.
Many thanks for reading about my challenge!
Micky
