Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a team of 7 cyclists representing the Longhope and District Branch of the Royal British Legion. We have decided to cycle around 280km over 3 days, from the Royal British Legion Village in Aylesford (Kent), to Mons in Belgium. We set off on Friday 27 July.

The Cemetery in Mons is thought to be the final resting place of the first and last Allied Soldiers killed during WW1. We thought this was a fitting and poignant place for us to commemorate 100 years since the end of this terrible war, to promote Remembrance and raise vital funds for the Royal British Legion, who still stand shoulder to shoulder with those who Serve and their families.

Join us on our journey as we share our experiences during this challenging and emotive cycle. We are planning our own route and will be camping each night as we make our journey to Mons. We will have a support vehicle to take us all home once we have completed our challenge, but this is an independent event and we will need to organise our accommodation and food.

We plan to meet with other RBL branch members as we go and will lay a wreath at the Menin Gate in Ypres, as well as at our destination, Mons.

We Will Remember Them, and we will raise funds to help those currently needing support as we do so.

Please follow our story, share our page and donate if you can,

Thank you, on behalf of us all:
