The 2.6 Challenge is a national initiative taking place next Sunday 26th April, based around any challenge that involves the numbers 2 and 6. It’s a superb idea to support those charities whose income has been badly affected by the current emergency.
One such organisation is BHT, which does a fantastic job in delivering critical support in both West and East Sussex for severely disadvantaged people, especially those who are homeless or are battling mental health illness. BHT’s work has never been more vital than right now but its funds this year are already depleted by more than £30,000 because of the cancellation of fundraising events.
Those of you who know us well will be aware that sailing is our passion. Our boat however is inaccessible in a boatyard so, instead, we have built this one - “Challenger 2.6” !
On Sunday 26th April at 10am, we will take it in turns to row Challenger 2.6 for a total of 2 hours and 6 minutes across our garden and into this idyllic tropical lagoon. As you can see, we are well equipped with lifejackets and binoculars as well as provisions and have every confidence in making a safe landfall! Wind permitting, we will be in our front garden so, if you are local, perhaps take a detour on your stroll to say hello from a 2.6 metre distance?
If you would like to sponsor us to help sustain BHT’s fantastic services, then we would be so grateful. Thank you and stay safe.
Paul and Hilary
