100km complete!! 🥵🥵

I set myself a personal goal of doing a 10km in under an hour. I didn’t quite manage that. I recorded my best time on my final run where I gave it my all and did it in 1:02.45. My tired legs just wouldn’t go any faster. So, I will keep this page open for a bit longer and Saturday 30th May I am going out again to try and beat that 1 hour on fresh rested legs. I will go out for a shorter midweek run just to keep some of the fitness I have built up.

Thank you so much to every single person that has donated and all your well wishes, it means a lot and has definitely helped in keeping me going.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Neil Heritage’s 100km run.

Being an Army veteran myself, I have been inspired by Captain Tom Moore and his achievement in raising over £30 million for the NHS. So I would like to try and raise a fraction of what he achieved for Saint Catherine’s Hospice.

In a similar style to how Captain Tom achieved the 100 laps of his garden over the course of 10 days, I will run/walk (whatever my body allows) 100km over the period of 10 days. That's 10km every day for 10 days!  This will of course be carried out as part of my daily exercise allowance following Government guidelines of social distancing.

I would like to try to raise £3,280 (0.01% of 32.8 million) for a great local charity and hospice, Saint Catherine's.

I will start my first run on Friday 15th May, completing the 100km on Sunday 24th May. There will be an updated daily progress and blog of my runs, recorded on Strava and published on social media.

I know times may be a bit tighter at the moment, but this is also the case for charities, with many money-raising events now cancelled for the foreseeable future. Please donate what you can, no matter how small it all adds up. (You can donate as little as £1 if you manually type in an amount instead of pressing one of the pre-prepared amounts).

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
