As I'm sure you will understand the sudden passing of my Mum has left me heart broken and feeling empty. Giving a realisation of how devastating and nasty this evil disease can be.

Whilst in hospital we talked about a lot of things, she gave us all our orders and made sure everything was in place with no stone left unturned. One promise we both made was that she would be waiting at the finish line of the Ironman 70.3 triathlon in June. Showing her support just like she did at all the things I did in life especially when I was competing. My promise to her was that I wouldn't push like normal to the point of being sick and hardly been able to stand up. This was always something that she used to dread watching and made her worry. She always used to say "don't race, just go and enjoy it!" 

I appreciate charity is not everybody's thing but my mum sadly passed away on 29th November 2017 one week after been diagnosed just days before her 70th birthday, so this is as personal as it gets. Dad, Steven, Heather and myself spent every day in hospital by her bedside witnessing the hard work of the Doctors and Nurses trying to battle this awful disease that has such a huge affect on so many people. Maybe they will never find a cure but unless we try we will never find out. Mum's was pancreatic cancer which spread to the liver and what she went through I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. No matter how large or small the donation please please please let's see if we can play a small part in the battle that could possibly affect any of us or our loved ones at some point.

Since deciding in August to take on this huge challenge I've been training 4-5 times a week to make sure I'm up for the 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile pedal and 13.1 mile run and pretty sure mum is with me on every training session.

Some say the funeral gives you some closure but the promise we made means the world to me and letting her down is not an option!!! I'm definitely going to keep my side of the promise as I'm 100% sure my mum will be keeping hers and looking down waiting at the finish.
