Story

Patsy Elizabeth Larance, 88, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in The Woodlands, Texas.  Patsy was born on November 23,1934 in Dubach, Louisiana to Wick and Eula Colvin. She was the youngest of eight children. She grew up on a farm, managed by her father until his passing when she was 13 years old.   Patsy was surrounded
by cousins and an extended Colvin family in north Louisiana.  As a young girl, she attended Fellowship Baptist church, and it was here that her lifelong faith was founded.  She had many fond memories of attending Bible camps and winning scripture memorization awards.

Patsy attended Dubach High School where she played basketball. After graduation, she went to Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana, and
graduated in 1955 with a BS Liberal Arts to become a pathologist.  It was on a bus to college, that she met the love of her life, Charles Larance, and they married on October 23, 1955.

They returned home from their honeymoon to a draft notice for Charles which took them to Alaska for 2 years.  Those two years were quite the experience for a young girl from rural Louisiana! While Charles served in the army, Patsy worked as a pathologist at a local hospital.

After Alaska, they lived briefly in Warren, then Hope, Arkansas before settling in El Dorado, Arkansas where they made their home for over 40 years. Patsy worked at the local hospital for a few years then chose to stay home and raise their children, Jerry and Lisa.  She loved being a mom and was always so proud of her children. She attended First Baptist Church, Eldorado, where she was active in women’s ministry and a member of the choir. She made lifelong friends whom she cherished deeply, through church, Bible study, and her neighborhood.

In 2003,  Charles retired, and they moved to The Woodlands to be closer to their children. She was so happy to have her family close and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.  The move also brought new friends through The Woodlands United Methodist church, and neighborhood activities in Windsor Hills. Patsy especially loved playing bridge and the friends she made in that group.

After Charles passed away in 2018, she missed him terribly.  In 2021,
she moved to The Forum in The Woodlands where she lived at the time of her death.  She loved the conveniences of the Forum and was so thankful for all of the loving staff who assisted her each day.

Patsy is survived by her son Jerry Larance and his wife Kim and
their children:  Jonathan Larance, of Kansas City, Kansas, David Larance and wife Lindsay, and their children Cal and Alina, of  Castle Pines, Colorado, Jackson Larance, of Houston;  her daughter Lisa Thompson and her husband Nino, of The Woodlands, and their children, Grace Park and husband Charlie, of Dallas; Maggie Thompson, of Uganda, and Emma Thompson.   Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Bessie Lea Goss, Perline Bristow, Judson Colvin, Johnny Colvin, Huey Colvin, Max Colvin, and Hays Colvin.  Her family is comforted in their loss by knowing that Patsy was ready to see her Savior and be reunited with her husband
and family members that preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at The Woodlands United Methodist Church in the Robb Chapel with
reception following in the Jones library. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Woodlands United Methodist Church or to the YMCA Bright Life program.
