4 half Marathons over 4 consecutive weekends · 10 September 2017

The DMRC Benevolent Fund purchases special goods and services for patients' rehabilitation, beyond that which is provided by the public purse. We create opportunities for patients to engage in social activities, which lets them forget about their injuries and rehabilitation for a few hours.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My target is £2500 as this is roughly what it cost to pay for just 1 of the weeks I spent in Headley Court due to sustaining a head injury whilst skiing with the Army.

After experiencing the excellent care and rehab at Headley Court myself, I was compelled to try and give something back for the treatment I received.

I decided to run 4 half marathons over 4 consecutive weekends to raise money for the injured servicemen in Headley Court. The money raised will go directly to the soldiers and officers staying in Headley Court, to try and help improve the time they spend there.

After staying there myself, I can testify how much of an uplift it can give to be able to leave the site to have trips out or being able to use some of the welfare facilities provided. This is often paid for in total or partially from these charitable funds.

The 4 half marathons are as follows:-

  • Denbies - 10th September
  • Reigate - 17th September
  • Winchester - 24th September
  • Cardiff - 1st October

Those who know me well will know how much I dislike running and am much more comfortable in the gym pushing weights. So this is going to be an interesting challenge for me! But one I am happy to do to make sure I can help those servicemen in Headley Court that really need it.

Please dig deep, but even a £1 donation is better than nothing and gratefully received.

Thank you for anything you donate :)

Paul
