Whiteleys Retreat is a small, Ayrshire based charity that provides therapeutic breaks for children and families affected by Cancer and other life altering illnesses. I first met Bernard through my work and was truly in awe of what people like Bernard do for others and the touching stories that come from anyone who has used the retreat.

On a personal level, this year marks 20 years since I had my legs badly broken and lost a best friend in a RTA. Following the accident , I had to learn to walk again and have had numerous operations, the last one being two and a half years in May 2018.

So this year I wanted to do something positive to mark the resilience people can show through life, to remember my friend and to help a charity that helps bring light into the lives of many families who are suffering. I hope to prove to myself and show others that drive, determination and resilience are important especially during these testing times
