Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those that have known me for a while will know that physical activity of any kind doesn’t come easy to me! I started running, like a huge number of us did, around the time of the first lockdown in March 2020. I was working from home and helping our two children with their home schooling, and gradually feeling the waist expanding.
I suppose you could say I caught the running bug and have been steadily increasing my pace and distance over time (nothing like Mo Farah, mind)!
I decided to put my new found hobby to good use and enter the Virtual London Marathon this year. I mean, it’s virtual, so it’ll only virtually hurt, right?! This also gave me an opportunity to raise money for a charity that has provided invaluable support to us as a family for over 10 years, and continue to do so.
Around 1% of the UK population have coeliac disease, but only 24% of those are diagnosed. This means that approximately 500,000 people in the UK remain undiagnosed. This is staggering really. The consequences of not being diagnosed can lead to some debilitating illnesses later in life. Coeliac UK are engaged in a huge number of research and awareness projects, and putting myself through a gruelling 26 miles is the very least I can do to show my appreciation.
So, if you can spare a bit of spare change to help me reach my target, I would be extremely grateful.
