Bees for Development is the UK-based charity transforming the lives of some of the world's poorest people through beekeeping. We help people to become self-sufficient, always using local bees and local skills. We have helped many thousands of people to keep bees sustainably.

Story

Poets for the Planet are proud to present Verse Aid, an awareness-raising, fundraising, spirit-raising poetry event in collaboration with The Society of Authors on Saturday 8th February 2020.

Inspired by protest round the world, we believe that the poetry community has an important role to play in calling on a range of voices, experiences and passions to respond to this crucial moment of challenge.

There will be an all-day Poem-a-thon with free entry – drop in for as long or little as you like – where sponsored poets will perform poems themed around climate change. There will also be eco-themed micro-workshops, payment by donation. This will be followed by a ticketed evening event with readings from some of the UK’s leading poets.

Funds raised from the Poem-a-thon will be donated to Bees for Development and Earthwatch.
