Story
The RAF Association is a charity that I am passionate about as during my 27 years service with the RAF and 10 years working for the Charity, including 25 years volunteering for them in my spare time, I have seen at first hand the fabulous work the Association does in supporting those members of the RAF Community in times of need regardless of whether they are a veteran, a serving person or a dependant of one.
It is one of the oldest military charities, with a 90-year history of providing support to the RAF community. More than a million people make up the RAF community, to whom we offer support.
The Association has a field force of over 1,100 highly trained case workers and Connections for Life volunteers who reach out to those in need, making over 100,000 outreach calls on an average year.
Over 170,000 people from the RAF Community say they have isolation or relationship problems. These are men and women who have served their country with honour, and fought bravely for the freedom we all enjoy.
Now, veterans both young and old are struggling to cope with life after service and many are desperate for companionship.
We offer specialist training and advice to the RAF community. Our online services – Finding it Tough? and Navigating Dementia and through these schemes we helped nearly 4,500 people last year.
The Association also offer advice and assistance regarding War Pensions or Armed Force Compensation Scheme claims.
Please help us to support their RAF Community when they most need out help.
