Seven half marathons in seven days · 11 October 2021

While your baby has specialist treatment at the John Radcliffe Hospital, we provide vital support to families. We also fund equipment for the unit, invest in training for NHS staff, run Little SSNAPlings and support research projects. We stand by families every step of the way.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Baby William arrived in December 2020, mid-pandemic and 7 weeks early. He remained in the JR hospital for a month, including over Christmas, during which time SSNAP were a constant support for my husband and me - providing endless snacks, a sympathetic ear, Christmas presents for William and a socially distanced shoulder to cry on when visiting hours were restricted over the Christmas period. They were also responsible for funding a whole range of equipment across the neonatal wards that the hospital would otherwise have been unable to offer. No one wants to spend the first month of their baby’s life in hospital, but SSNAP made the whole experience so much more bearable.

As a thank you, and to help ensure that this wonderful charity can continue their fantastic work, I foolishly came up with the idea of running 7 half marathons in 7 days, culminating in the Oxford half marathon on 17 October. This was definitely overambitious - I’ll be lucky if I can fit in the amount of training I would normally do for one half marathon - but I am determined to cover the distance one way or another. William is likely to be accompanying me in the buggy for several of the miles, serving as an excellent reminder of the cause (and making the whole thing that bit harder!).

Thank you in advance for your support - I am truly grateful.
