What else would I do for my 80th birthday? · 1 October 2017

We exist to give a lifetime of support to the wider Army family, regardless of where or when a soldier served. We act swiftly and efficiently in providing support in the form of grants to those who find themselves in real need. We also provide grants to charities who support the wider Army family.

Story

I last parachuted around 60 years ago, dropping from a barrage balloon and was waiting to get on a Beverley 'plane with around 20 others when we were stood down as it was the beginning of the Suez crisis and it just left us standing by the runway. Apparently that training isn't sufficient so this time I'll have a man with a parachute strapped to my back - it's a pity as I would love to try out a modern parachute that steers and comes down a lot slower than the Army 'X' 'chute. So I will enjoy myself while raising money for a worthy cause; that is a great Birthday present!
