Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 13th November 2017, Amanda Jayne Welcher lost her 3 year battle with cancer. A truly wonderful woman who inspired everyone she met and brought a smile to everyone she spoke to. A loving Mother, wife and Grandmother Mandy was so much to so many people. Mandy was more than just a friend to myself and my family helping the family through whatever issues we may have.
I will be completing the epic bike ride with my good friend and mentor, Kevin Doncaster, who will be doing the bike ride in memory of Nick Wadsworth, another good friend, who sadly, also passed away to cancer in July. He was an amazing friend to everyone around him, amazing father to his two children and an amazing husband to his wife.
For two people Like Mandy and Nick only a bike ride of this magnitude can come close to how important they were to the people around them.
We will be setting of on the 16th of June from John O'Groats and making our way down the length of the UK towards Lands End in Cornwall. The ride will be a minimum of 1000 Miles and will be completed at a average pace of 120 Miles a day over 8 days.
This is by far the most difficult challenge I have set myself in my life, physically, mentally and emotionally. Kevin and I will be carrying our own supplies on the ride with no support vehicle, adding to the difficulty of the challenge. It will be an serious challenge for us both, but one we are both looking forward to embarking on.
This is a disease that effects millions of people all over the world every year, it tears family's apart and takes loved ones from us. Having an opportunity to help contribute towards helping people suffering from the disease and also the family's of these people is the underlying target for myself and Kevin.
All donations we receive will be greatly appreciated, I've attached a link to Kevin's just giving page below.
No family should have to go through what Mandy and Nick's went through, hopefully completing this ride will help stop other family's going through the same thing.
Joe.
